A Saudi writer and filmmaker, Musfer Al-Mousa holds a master’s degree in visual production and a doctorate in investigative documentary filmmaking from Griffith University in Australia. He is a faculty member at the College of Media and Communication at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud University, specializing in documentary cinema and screen aesthetics. Al-Mousa has written and directed several documentaries, including The Last Bedouins, The Homeland Through the Eyes of Travelers, The Road to the Island of Silence, Daughter of the Desert, and Those Who Fled with Their Faith. He has served on numerous film festival juries and received several honors, including an award at the Carthage Film Festival for The Last Bedouins (2007), the Academic Excellence Award from Griffith University (2008), and the Research Excellence Award from Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud University (2018). He currently serves as a content advisor for drama at MBC and the Shahid streaming platform. His latest publication, The Naked City — A Comprehensive Reference on Investigative Documentary Films, was released in 2024 by Jusoor Al-Thaqafa Publishing and Distribution.
