A Syrian writer and translator born in Damascus, Samra Mahfouz holds a degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of Damascus and a Master’s in Environmental Management from Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, Italy. She studied English translation at the Faculty of Arts, University of Damascus. Her translated works from English into Arabic include Joyce’s Music—a selection of texts and poems by Irish writer James Joyce, Film Psychology: An Overview of Film Psychology and Its Key Theories, and The History of Islamic Cinema in Bombay.
She has also translated two Arabic novels into English: Al-Wasmiyya and Al-Jinniya — Comics, both published by Al-Mohtarif Al-Saudi. In addition to translation, she works in editing, writing, and journalism, and has published numerous articles and translated poems in Syrian and Arab newspapers and magazines.
