Irfan Rasheed
An Iraqi writer and film critic based in Italy, Irfan Rasheed graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Baghdad, specializing in theatrical arts. He worked as an editor for the Arabic-language Italian channel Rai Med and has served as a commentator and analyst on Middle Eastern affairs for several Italian television networks, particularly the national channels Rai 1 and Rai 3. He also worked as a journalist reporting from Italy and as a correspondent across various European countries for numerous Arab newspapers. Rasheed co-authored the book Cinema of Arab Countries, published in Italian by Marsilio Publishing. His translation work includes The Comrade by Italian novelist Cesare Pavese (published by Al-Mutawassit in Milan), the Sicilian trilogy by Leonardo Sciascia, and A Time to Kill by Ennio Flaiano. Over the course of nearly four decades in media, he has received numerous awards and honors. His latest publication, Italian Laughter – A Brief Chronicle of the History and Origins of Italian Comedy, was released by Jusoor Al-Thaqafa Publishing and Distribution in 2023.
